Tourism BC Approved Accommodation

Rooms

Cedars Inn has 13 guestrooms and two cabins. Each room is unique - not just in design but in atmosphere, too.

Comfortable rooms, unique in design and atmosphere

Built in 1936 during the peak of the gold rush, Cedars Inn originally operated as a hospital. While it has been decades since doctors with stethoscopes wandered the hallways, some early design features provide an other-world charm - like spacious rooms with 10-foot ceilings and a magnificent setting along the River's edge, which means every room has a view.

Depending on the season, you'll see salmon spawning in the stream, bears fishing along the bank, deer grazing on the lawn, seals swimming in the inlet, and stellar jays, ravens, hummingbirds, bald eagles, trumpeter swans and a host of other wildlife flying, floating, swimming, or ambling by.

River or mountain view from every room

Got kids? Bring them along. There's no charge for children under 12 in the same room. And if all the excitement of the great outdoors is too much for them, guest rooms have free wireless Internet so they can check in with their friends, even if it's just to gloat. (We also have a public access computer for guest use.)

Do you have a pet that is part of the family? Book one of the cottages - they're pet friendly.

Every room and cabin has

  • Comfortable beds
  • Remote control satellite TV, with lots of channels and music stations
  • Private bathroom
  • Direct dial telephone
  • Individual thermostat
  • River or mountain view

Some rooms have kitchenettes

Some rooms have mini fridges, some have kitchenettes, some have full bathrooms with tubs, while others have showers.

Have a look at these descriptions, and if you see a room you like, reserve it now. Our guests have their predilections and they re-book their favorites year after year.

Live green and live large!

Here at Cedars Inn, in Zeballos, we're surrounded by Nature and are very aware of the impact we have on her. We do our best to reduce the size of our footprint while still offering our guests first-rate comfort and convenience.

As much as possible, at the Blue Heron Restaurant we use locally-produced and organic food: eggs come from free-range chickens that live at nearby farms; our fish swim wild - till they're caught and cooked; seasonal fruits and vegetables come from Vancouver Island growers; we avoid genetically-modified products whenever possible; and we shun all excess packaging.

For take-out, we use paper rather than Styrofoam and our paper towels are unbleached; we wash with enviro-friendly kitchen and laundry soap, use energy-saving light bulbs as frequently as possible, recyle beverage containers, and reuse cardboard.

When guestrooms are not in use, heat is turned down; guest soaps, shampoos, and conditioners are environmentally safe and restocked from bulk containers.

To help preserve the salmon-producing stream outside our door, no pesticides or herbicides are used on the grounds. And, because we wish to continue living harmoniously with the animals in our locale, all visitors are instructed to employ bear- and critter-friendly camping practices.
