Kayaking

A paddler's paradise

Esperanza Sound, Nootka Sound, and Nuchatlitz - Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada

Explore the wilderness by kayak. Even novice kayakers will have no trouble navigating the region's protected waterways and inlets.

Traverse the streams and channels that larger boats can't access, and camp overnight on one of many sheltered beaches.

Kids, kayaks & the wilderness

A kayaking holiday gives families a wonderful opportunity to get together in a wilderness setting. To avoid accidents and keep everyone happy, we offer these tips:

  • In cold, damp weather, smaller people become hypothermic faster. Be sure to bring waterproof gear and a few changes of warm clothes. Bring lots of snacks to keep energy levels up.
  • Younger children have short attention spans and may not enjoy long crossings; you might be better with a base camp, where you can strike out with lots of short paddles.

Road, water & kayak shuttle

Zeballos Expeditions provides water taxi service and kayak shuttles from Zeballos on the north central west coast of Vancouver Island to all outlying areas including Nuchatlitz Park, Port Eliza, Friendly Cove, and Louie Bay.

Shuttle service is available by road between Zeballos and Fair Harbour, Little Espinosa, Port Hardy and other points on Vancouver Island. We carry passengers, kayaks, and camping gear.

Pick-up & drop-off

All kayaking tours will be provided with transportation to the outer islands via motor vessel. You can maximize your paddling enjoyment by beginning your tour on the outside coast of Vancouver Island.

Please let us know if you would like us to pick up your group, kayaks, and camping gear anywhere on Vancouver Island (for example - airports and ferry terminals) with our Motor Carrier licensed passenger service. This service is extra. Please contact Zeballos Expeditions about travel arrangements for your sea kayaking expedition in British Columbia, Canada.
